Christie Refugee Welcome Centre operates 3 key programs:

Shelter and Support
Outreach
Refugee Sponsorship

These programs offer holistic support to refugees as they integrate into Canadian society.

The Centre responds to the urgent needs of refugee families by providing safe shelter, food, and clothing for the Canadian climate.

Refugees also receive assistance in making their refugee claim and finding affordable housing.

Families learn about life in Canada, access medical and educational referrals.

The Outreach Program provides follow-up services to the Centre’s residents for one year following their move-out from the shelter. Outreach staff conduct home visits, offer referrals and support, and host special events and outings.

The program also evaluates residents’ success at integrating into life in Canada.

The Refugee Sponsorship Program assists churches and interested groups in sponsoring refugees from overseas.

Working with Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC), staff engage and train new churches, liaise with the CIC and sponsors, and facilitate the sponsorship of more than 100 refugees each year.
